How to Relax When you Don’t Love Yoga

This is a question that comes up A LOT. Especially for those of us that live in the city. While it is true that yoga is great for promoting relaxation, sometimes the thought of doing yoga or getting yourself to a yoga class can be stressful in itself. It’s hard to find in some places, but Gyrotonics can be very beneficial in opening up the body and therefore encouraging relaxation.

However, my personal favorites that include relaxation for the body are Myofascial Release (aka Foam rolling) and good old stretching. Be sure to hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds though. For more mind focused relaxation, simply sitting still in quiet for 20 minutes is great (yes I’m saying it “mindfulness meditation” eek!) or going for a stroll (not a brisk walk, but literally a casual stroll) and letting your mind wander is insanely helpful.
